About

I’ve been interested in science fiction and space since I was five years old.  I remember being fascinated as I watched the moon landings in grainy black and white with my parents.  James Burke, the BBC’s science correspondent, won me over with his explanations of how the lunar rovers worked, and I’ve never looked back since.

As the Apollo programme ended prematurely in the early 1970’s I began watching Space 1999 and UFO that promised glimpses of the near future that were aften dark.  Star Trek provided a bright future with mankind finding its place amongst distance galaxies and exotic alien races.

Favourite authors

Arthur C. Clark drew me in to reading science fiction. His vivid imagination and story telling transported me to worlds beyond my imagination.  When I’d read his books, I moved on to Harry Harrison, Robert A Heinlein and Frank Herbert (I somehow got stuck on the H’s for a while!).

I’m eternally grateful to my English teacher, Mr Bassett, for opening my eyes to a wider range of authors and genres. J.D Salinger, Harper Lee, Laurie Lee … the list can go on.  The varied authors I continue to read offer fresh perspective to story telling but my heart will always be with science fiction.

And so it is finally my time to enter the fray. To share my imagination and story telling. I hope you enjoy my books and find them entertaining.

Star Wars or Star Trek? Why not both? They’re set in different universes with contrasting values and messages. I take enjoyment from both and (like my children) I can’t pick a favourite!

Inspiration?

Like many people, I expected lunar and martian settlements to have occurred last century. And then, NASA seemed to lose its way and governments lost the will and long term focus. The Space Shuttle programme promised so much yet failed to deliver its full potential.

The world has seen a dramatic change in the past ten years. Private companies have risen to the challenge with inspirational visionaries such as Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos leading the charge. While not everyone may agree with their approach, I hope they succeed and allow mankind to break the confines of planet Earth.
